With several years experience in the accounting field Ilsie Powery, who joined the Department of Vehicle and Drivers' Licensing on 7 January, is keen to make a solid contribution to the civil service. As Accounts Officer IV, her responsibilities include reconciling deposit slips against the department's payment system; making general ledger entries; and invoicing other government departments for vehicle transfers. Prior to joining the civil service Ms Powery spent many years in banking and education, fine tuning her accounting skills. In 2005 she added to those by completing a certificate course in bookkeeping with the University College of the Cayman Islands. Though new to her post, Ms Powery already fits right in: "I feel completely at home with the department's management style and my co-workers have made me so welcome," she said.
