You presently cannot renew a provisional / learner’s licence online because this service is only assigned to a full driver’s licence.
Yes, as a“visitor” to the Cayman Islands, the Traffic Act and Regulations allows you six months on which to legally drive before the exchange of your driver’s licence.
A full driver’s licence allows you to operate a motor vehicle without supervision within the limit of the relevant category of vehicle to be driven.
A provisional/learner’s licence requires you to be accompanied by a holder of a full driver’s licence for the group of provisional licence and they must have held that full licence for 24 months (2 years) or more.
Complete an application (Form T.R.14) for the desired group of provisional licence and pay the fee of $60.00. A practical test is required at the cost of $50.00 and once you have passed the necessary upgrade, the fee applies.

Your driver’s licnece can be renewed for 3, 5 or 10 years. A new driver’s licence picture should be taken at least once every 10 years.
To upgrade your driver’s licence, you will have to obtain a provisional (learner’s) licence for the desired group and then a practical (road) test will have to be done. The cost of a provisional licence is $60.00 and a practical exam is $50.00. The necessary upgrade fee will apply once the practical exam has been passed.

Please submit an original or a Notarized copy of your marriage certificate or Deed Poll with a completed (Form T.R.14).
For a change of address, please complete the appropriate application (Form T.R.14). There is a fee of $40.00 for the issuance of any duplicate Driver’s licence for the unexpired period of the licence.
Mail outs will only be done in particular circumstances. Please call the customer support unit at 945 8344, option 1 to discuss your case if needed. The standard procedure is to collect your driver's licence (which has been paid for online) from any DVDL office.
It will be necessary for you to report your driver’s licence as lost/stolen to the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service. After doing so, you must submit a copy of the report to DVDL to have your licence replaced at the cost of $40.00.
Advise the Customer Service Clerk at the time you are having your driver’s licence printed.

There are three options to renew your driver’s licence:
Visitors to the Island, who intend to rent a car/motor scooter, must first ensure that there foreign domestic driver's licence is valid for the class of vehicles to be driven. In addition, the Traffic Act and the Geneva Convention on Road Traffic allows a person with a valid driver's licence to drive for a period of twelve (12) months. However, your driver's licence must be exchanged within (6) months of residency upon passing a written theory test. If you are outside of the (6) months residency, you must take and pass both the written and road tests.
